Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits
Makes 8-10 biscuits
EATgredients:
Biscuits:
- 1 cup rice flour
- ½ cup coconut flour
- ¼ cup potato starch
- 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
- 4 Tbsp. butter, room temperature
- 1 cup milk, grass-fed raw/lightly pasteurized
- 1 ¼ cup cheddar cheese, raw/grass-fed shredded
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 3 tsp. parsley
- 1 tsp. salt
Topping:
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
- 2 tsp. parsley
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
Steps to crEATe:
1.) Preheat oven to 400°.
2.) Combine flours and baking soda. Add in room temperature butter, mix in thoroughly, there will probably chunks of butter, that’s OK!
3.) Add milk, cheese, and seasonings. Mix in thoroughly, by hand.
4.) Add 2 Tbsp. chunks on baking sheet or biscuit tray. Bake for 15 minutes or until tops are slightly brown.
5.) After removing biscuits from oven, prepare topping by melting butter and adding seasonings.
6.) Top each biscuit with about 1-2 tsp. of melted butter parsley concoction.
7.) Enjoy.

They look good but I refrain from using potato starch, as well as rice flour and cornstarch as they are unhealthy……can one substitute coconut, almond or others as well?
I’ve studied the flours and starches you mention and would not consider them “unhealthy” as a general statement. CAN they be unhealthy? Yes, depending on your current state of health. When I use these flours and starches, I am sure to combine them with saturated fat and protein for optimal blood sugar response and hormonal balance.
You can sub tapioca starch for potato.
These look amazing… but I’m allergic to rice (and tapioca). Any sub suggestions for the rice flour?
